Softball Recap: Bucktail Takes a Loss

Bucktail managed to slip by Montgomery the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bucks came up short against the Red Raiders on Tuesday, falling 17-7. The Bucks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Eva Sockman was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

Sockman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Stone, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Stone has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Bucktail and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Montgomery, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Bucktail has already played their next matchup, a 16-7 victory against Muncy on the 3rd. As for Montgomery, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-2 win against Benton on the 8th.
