Softball Recap: Caston Comes Up Short

Caston had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Twin Lakes Indians, falling 15-5. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Natalie Warner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Alex Mersch was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Twin Lakes, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly ten runs.

On Twin Lakes' side, Myley Spriggs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Leah Shrock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Miya Clerget, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Caston has already played their next match, a 6-3 victory against North White on the 21st. As for Twin Lakes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-8 defeat against South Newton on the 23rd.
