Football Recap: Athens Drive Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Athens Drive unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Green Level Gators at home by a 34-20 margin on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyrese Madry, who rushed for 148 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Tuck, who rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Athens Drive's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut James Cochran.

Green Level found their leader in sophomore Luke Pagan, who rushed for 149 yards and three scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Another big playmaker for the Gators was Derek Monroe, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens Drive will face off against Cary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Green Level, they will challenge Broughton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
