Given Elyria Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Bay is ranked 573rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Elyria Catholic to victory were Isabelle Niederst and Camara Ogletree. Niederst dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Ogletree dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ogletree scored 15 or more points. Amaya Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Elyria Catholic now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Bay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elyria Catholic will take on Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rocky River's defense has only allowed 25.5 points per game this season, so Elyria Catholic's offense will have their work cut out for Elyria Catholic. As for Bay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hawken at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
