Softball Recap: Cedar Ridge Beats Mcneil for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Cedar Ridge had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt McNeil on Tuesday. Cedar Ridge never let McNeil get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Caitlin Benningfield was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, London Collins and Gabby Zulfekar did most of the damage at the plate: Collins scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2, while Zulfekar scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases Collins has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makayla Gonzales, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Cedar Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McNeil only posted an OBP of .167.

The win (which was Cedar Ridge's tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for McNeil, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season.
