Baseball Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats vs. Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats

We've got a battle between Bobcats coming up. Refugio will be strutting in after a victory while Skidmore-Tynan will be coming in after a defeat.

Refugio lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Yorktown, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. Everything went Refugio's way against Yorktown on Monday as Refugio made off with an 11-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bobcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

T-Mike Rosas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Refugio is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Refugio let Ray Lewis and Laytyn Garza run wild. Lewis scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Garza scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Garza a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Hunter Carroll, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Refugio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Skidmore-Tynan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Woodsboro, falling 18-8. One positive for the Bobcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Skidmore-Tynan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Refugio, their win bumped their record up to 5-6-1.

Refugio skirted past Skidmore-Tynan 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Refugio repeat their success, or does Skidmore-Tynan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
