Baseball Game Preview: Woodbridge Barrons vs. Elizabeth Minutemen

The Woodbridge Barrons will challenge the Elizabeth Minutemen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Woodbridge not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024 (when they won 11-1). They blew past South Amboy 12-2. The victory continues a trend for the Barrons in their matchups with the Governors: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth made easy work of Union Catholic on Saturday and carried off a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Minutemen, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Albert Maldonado made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Maldonado was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ian Acevedo was incredible, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eliezer Cepeda, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Woodbridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Elizabeth, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
