Basketball Recap: Newton Local Comes Up Short

Newton Local was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Covington Buccs. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buccs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Newton Local's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Covington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-14.

Newton Local has already played their next matchup (against National Trail), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Covington will challenge Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
