Baseball Game Preview: North Kingstown Skippers vs. Bishop Hendricken Hawks

The North Kingstown Skippers are taking a road trip to challenge the Bishop Hendricken Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Kingstown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Bishop Hendricken's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

North Kingstown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Smithfield, who was ranked fifth at the time (North Kingstown was ranked seventh). The Skippers walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Sentinels on Thursday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bishop Hendricken and La Salle Academy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Hawks fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-3.

Jacob Montenegro made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

North Kingstown's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Bishop Hendricken, their loss dropped their record down to 20-6.

North Kingstown beat Bishop Hendricken 7-2 in their previous matchup on May 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skippers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
