Basketball Recap: Hadley Hornung's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakeview over Central City

Lakeview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 68-48 to the Central City Bison. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Bison are ranked 39th).

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hadley Hornung, who went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points. The dominant performance also gave Hornung a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Mejstrik, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lakeview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central City only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Central City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydni Homolka, who went 8-for-15 on her way to 19 points and five boards. Journi Schindler was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Lakeview's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Central City, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-2.

Lakeview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central City, they have already played their next match, a 63-25 win against Fullerton on the 14th.
