Basketball Game Preview: Dexter Demons vs. Hagerman Bobcats

The Dexter Demons will challenge the Hagerman Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Dexter came up short against Jal and fell 64-53. The defeat continues a trend for the Demons in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Hagerman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points) and they went ahead and made it three back in December of 2024. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-21 win over the Bronchos. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 36 points or more this season.

Dexter better focus on containing Jordan Aguilar and Jevon Aguilar as the pair were huge in Hagerman's win. Jordan went 8 for 12 on his way to 19 points and three steals, while Jevon went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Jevon's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Zamora, who posted six points.

Hagerman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Hagerman is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Dexter, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Dexter was dealt a bruising 74-18 defeat at the hands of Hagerman in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dexter was down 45-12.
