Stevenson came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Garden City Cougars a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since May 5, 2024.

Andrew Grzanowski made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Stevenson is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-12-1 otherwise. Grzanowski was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Grzanowski wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Patterson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Patterson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Stevenson's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-14-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Garden City, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Stevenson has already played their next match, a 9-1 defeat against Novi on the 10th. As for Garden City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Allen Park on the 10th.
