Softball Recap: Central Kitsap Sets Scoring Season-High Against Silas

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Kitsap). Everything went their way against the Silas Rams on Thursday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ari Linder looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Addisyn Hinze was a standout: she went 3-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Savvy Paulson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Central Kitsap kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Central Kitsap pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Silas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Kitsap will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on River Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on the 14th. As for Silas, they will head out to square off against Mount Tahoma at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
