Baseball Game Preview: Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Aviators vs. New Roads Jaguars

For the second straight game, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy will face off against New Roads. The Aviators will head out to take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hawthorne Math & Science Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy came up short against New Roads on Wednesday, falling 18-2.

For New Roads' part, Santiago Jimenez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave Jimenez a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, New Roads got a massive performance out of Donovan Eastwood, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, Eastwood posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Berumen, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

New Roads kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-8-1. As for New Roads, their record now sits at 7-8.
