Basketball Game Preview: Viborg/Hurley Cougars vs. Freeman Flyers

Viborg/Hurley has gone 8-2 against Freeman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Viborg/Hurley Cougars will take on the Freeman Flyers at 7:45 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Viborg/Hurley sitting on five straight victories and Freeman on six.

Viborg/Hurley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Crazy Horse, posting a 73-37 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Freeman hadn't done well against Howard recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Freeman walked away with a 72-60 victory over Howard. The game was the first time the Flyers have beaten the Tigers on their court since December 20, 2016.

Freeman found their leader in freshman David Walter, who shot 69% from the field to rack up 23 points and eight boards. Walter's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Luke Miller, who went 6-for-9 en route to 15 points.

Freeman's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points over those games. As for Viborg/Hurley, their victory bumped their record up to 23-2.

Viborg/Hurley came up short against Freeman in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 57-53. Can Viborg/Hurley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
