Soccer Game Preview: South Grand Prairie vs. Martin

South Grand Prairie and Martin are an even 4-4-2 against one another since January of 2016, but likely not for long. The South Grand Prairie Warriors will welcome the Martin Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. South Grand Prairie's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for South Grand Prairie's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Prairie on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Martin waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Buffalos a 3-0 shutout. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Buffalos are ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Grand Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 2-5-2. As for Martin, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

South Grand Prairie came out on top in a nail-biter against Martin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Does South Grand Prairie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Martin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
