Softball Recap: Haines City Takes a Loss

After flying high against Discovery two weeks ago, Haines City came back down to earth. The Hornets came up short against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts on Tuesday, falling 15-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dreadnaughts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in March.

Haines City has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Lakeland, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11.

Coming up, Haines City will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Ridge Community at 6:00 p.m. The Hornets are facing the Bolts at the right time seeing as the Bolts are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Lakeland, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dreadnaughts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
