Volleyball Recap: Avery Bastein and Skylyr Merriman Secure Win for Center Grove

Center Grove won the last time they faced Martinsville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Artesians. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Center Grove took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-10, 25-15.

Center Grove was led to victory by Skylyr Merriman and Avery Bastein. Merriman had nine digs and four assists, while Bastein had five digs and one assist. Those four assists gave Merriman a new career-high.

Center Grove's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Martinsville, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center Grove will square off against New Castle at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for Martinsville, they will challenge Plainfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
