Recap: Godwin Eagles vs. Louisa County Lions
In what's become a running theme this season, the Godwin Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. Everything went their way against Louisa County as Godwin made off with a 70-44 win. With Godwin ahead 39-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Leading Godwin to victory were Lakelyn Bostian and Reagan Nemeyer. Bostian almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Nemeyer scored 25 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Bostian pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Ross, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Yeatts, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Peyton Brady, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Godwin's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Louisa County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Godwin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against J.R. Tucker at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Godwin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday. As for Louisa County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Western Albemarle at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Louisa County is coming into the contest with four straight losses on the road, meaning Western Albemarle will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
