Basketball Game Preview: Pine View Panthers vs. Hurricane Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pine View Panthers duke it out with the Hurricane Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday... Pine View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Pine View didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Hills and fell 50-47. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Thunder recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ella Fiefia, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 15 points and seven boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Reese Gustin was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hurricane can bid farewell to their 12-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Dixie by a score of 66-54. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Flyers are ranked 28th).

Hurricane's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-14. As for Pine View, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Pine View was able to grind out a solid win over Hurricane in their previous meeting last Thursday, winning 59-46. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Hurricane's Hallee Wardle, who posted 17 points along with seven boards and four steals.
