Baseball Game Preview: Pitkin Tigers vs. Anacoco Indians

Pitkin is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing at home against the Anacoco Indians at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

It was a proper cat-fight when Pitkin faced off against Pine Prairie on Monday. Pitkin came out on top against Pine Prairie by a score of 12-9.

Meanwhile, Anacoco beat Fairview 6-3 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly three runs.

Kyle Scott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Anacoco's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Caleb Dixon was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Pitkin's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Anacoco, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Everything went Pitkin's way against Anacoco in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Pitkin made off with an 11-2 victory. Will Pitkin repeat their success, or does Anacoco has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
