Baseball Recap: Freeport Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Freeport made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rutherford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Freeport Bulldogs' way against the Rutherford Rams on Monday as the Freeport Bulldogs made off with a 12-2 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Darrow, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Freeport's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Digges, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Darrow wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Freeport kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Freeport's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Rutherford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Freeport will head out on the road to challenge Baker at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rutherford, they will be playing at home against Fort Walton Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
