Luling takes loss despite strong efforts from Skylar Dredla and Natalie Gomez

Recap: Luling Eagles vs. Marion Bulldogs

The Luling Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-37 bruising from Marion. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Luling in their matchups with Marion: they've now lost five in a row.

Natalie Gomez and Skylar Dredla certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Gomez scored 12 points along with two steals, while Dredla scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Evyn Bryant, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.

Luling has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Marion, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-18.

Luling will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Nixon-Smiley at 6:30 p.m. Nixon-Smiley and Luling are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Marion, they will head out on the road to take on Randolph at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Randolph will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
