Basketball Game Preview: Fideles Christian Rangers vs. Cherokee Christian Warriors

Fideles Christian is 1-9 against Cherokee Christian since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fideles Christian Rangers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Cherokee Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Fideles Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.

Fideles Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat New Creation Christian Academy 89-60. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rangers had established a 27 point advantage.

Fideles Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xander Lipinski led the charge by going 11 for 17 on his way to 27 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The game was Lipinski's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Eli Shadburn was another key player, shooting 4-for-4 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Fideles Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Christian played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against The King's Academy, falling 90-62. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while the Knights are ranked 159th).

Fideles Christian's record now sits at 8-16. As for Cherokee Christian, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Fideles Christian and Cherokee Christian were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but Fideles Christian came up empty-handed after a 60-59 defeat. Can Fideles Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
