Volleyball Recap: Cherokee Trail Takes Down Ranked Cherry Creek

Cherokee Trail faced Cherry Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Bruins 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won three in a row.

Cherokee Trail was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-30, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Hayden Parmelee was the offensive standout of the game as he had ten digs and two aces. Those two aces gave him a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, Cherry Creek saw an underclassman step up: freshman Liam Lee had 14 digs. Andrew Berndt also deserves some recognition as he had his first digs of the season.

Cherokee Trail's record is now 7-12. As for Cherry Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Cherokee Trail has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Overland on the 18th. As for Cherry Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Boulder on the 19th.
