The 25th Annual Dave Kops Tournament of Champions will feature some of the top high school teams and talent from March 5-7 in Bullhead, Ariz. The city located roughly 90 miles outside Las Vegas will host teams from California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

Second-ranked Norco (Calif.) will be back to defend its title after beating fellow Southern California power Los Alamitos (Calif.) 7-0 in the finals.

The Griffins enter this week’s MaxPreps Top 25 national high school softball rankings after starting the season 4-0. Los Alamitos and Norco are both in action Thursday.

O'Connor (Phoenix) and Chino Hills (Calif.) are the other two ranked teams in action at the Dave Kops tournament, with a chance the two could meet as early as Thursday. Whoever wins this tournament is a guaranteed lock to be in next week’s rankings.

Florida softball has a strong presence in the rankings so far. The Sunshine State is represented by five teams, including newcomer Oakleaf (Orange Park, Fla.). The Jacksonville-area school is off to a perfect start to begin the season.

Forney (Texas) made the biggest leap this week as the Jackrabbits are off to an 11-0 start, which includes a 1-0 over nationally ranked Barbers Hill (Mt. Belvieu, Texas).
