Baseball Recap: Dunlap's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Dunlap waltzed into their game on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Peoria Notre Dame Irish with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Landon Gray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Christian Ferrari was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Davis Weeks, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dunlap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria Notre Dame only posted a batting average of .148.

Dunlap's victory bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season.

Dunlap will square off against Metamora at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Redbirds at the right time seeing as the Redbirds are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Peoria Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
