Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Claysburg-Kimmel

While Claysburg-Kimmel's win against Moshannon Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Black Knights/Damsels 2-1 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mason Campagna made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple.

Campagna wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dustin Slowik, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Claysburg-Kimmel pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Moshannon Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Claysburg-Kimmel will challenge Tussey Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moshannon Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Southern Huntingdon County at 4:00 p.m. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.89 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights/Damsels will no doubt try to take advantage of.
