Mid-Carolina skates past Abbeville with ease

In what's become a running theme this season, the Mid-Carolina Rebels gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 52-23 victory over Abbeville on the road. Given Mid-Carolina's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Abbeville is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mid-Carolina was led to victory by BreA Boyd and Brayden Brooks. Boyd scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Brooks scored 11 points along with nine steals. Boyd is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Josie Shepherd was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and five steals.

The win was the sixth in a row for Mid-Carolina, bringing their record for this year to 12-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Abbeville, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.

Mid-Carolina will be playing at home against Saluda at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saluda is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Abbeville, they will take on Newberry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newberry is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
