Basketball Recap: Wayne Victorious

Wayne proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 39) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over the Milford Tigers. For the Badgers, this counts as revenge for the 49-47 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Wayne found their leader in sophomore AJ VanDyke, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. VanDyke has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Morrill, who posted seven points.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hadley Griffiths, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Karsydi Vestch, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Milford, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will host Piute at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Milford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bryce Valley at 5:30 p.m.
