Softball Recap: Eastern Greene Thunderbirds vs. Bloomfield Cardinals
Eastern Greene extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-9. They came up short against the Bloomfield Cardinals, falling 13-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Eastern Greene saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracyn Collier, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Makayla Singh was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Bloomfield, they now have a winning record of 7-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
On Bloomfield's side, Lila Koontz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Koontz was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
In other batting news, Farrah Hostetter was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella McIntosh, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Eastern Greene will welcome Cloverdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bloomfield, they will head out to face off against Princeton at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
