Basketball Game Preview: Fernandina Beach Pirates vs. Yulee Hornets

Fernandina Beach and Yulee are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Fernandina Beach Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yulee Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fernandina Beach is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Last Wednesday, Fernandina Beach made easy work of Paxon School For Advanced Studies and carried off a 52-26 win.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fernandina Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Aronowitz, who went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jesse Basse, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Yulee over Harvest Community in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Yulee blew Harvest Community out of the water with a 71-43 final score. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 24 points or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Yulee and bumps their season record up to 14-8. As for Fernandina Beach, they are also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Fernandina Beach strolled past Yulee when the teams last played on January 10th by a score of 55-38. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Yulee's Chase Cannone, who went 7 of 14 en route to 21 points and three steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Fernandina Beach still be able to contain Cannone? There's only one way to find out.
