Basketball Recap: Desert Mountain Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Desert Mountain was the 72-64 winner over Pinnacle when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolves lost to the Pioneers on the road by a 78-63 margin on Friday.

Leading Pinnacle to victory were Tyonne Brown and Cam Hurt. Brown shot 80% from the field to rack up 24 points and three steals, while Hurt went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points along with seven assists and three steals. Those 24 points gave Brown a new career-high. Kareem Alkhalifa was another key player, going 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Desert Mountain's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points over those games. As for Pinnacle, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Desert Mountain will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on December 9. As for Pinnacle, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ironwood Ridge at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
