Recap: Birch Run Panthers vs. Frankenmuth Eagles
The Birch Run Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frankenmuth. While losing is never fun, Birch Run can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Frankenmuth is ranked 122nd).
Carson Knoll continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Frankenmuth, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Knoll is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jared Watchorn, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Birch Run has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Frankenmuth, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Birch Run will head out on the road to challenge Freeland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freeland will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Birch Run surely won't give up without a fight. As for Frankenmuth, they will play host again and welcome Bridgeport, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bridgeport is coming into the match with five straight defeats on the road, meaning Frankenmuth will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
