Baseball Recap: Hartford Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Hartford and St. Joseph pushed the score to 10-9 the last time they played St. Joseph, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Orioles never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Orioles, who have now won five matches in a row.

Carter Kutz made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Kaiden Romens was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Hartford pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hartford will host Watertown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Goslings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Orioles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Joseph, they will welcome Burlington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Demons have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
