Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Demons vs. Irmo Yellowjackets
The Lugoff-Elgin Demons fell victim to the Irmo Yellowjackets''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Yellowjackets, falling 49-0. Lugoff-Elgin just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Irmo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron (AJ) Brand Jr., who threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Allen-hendrix, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Lugoff-Elgin's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Ridge View and 6-4 Richland Northeast (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Irmo, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Lugoff-Elgin will head out on the road to face off against South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in South Florence's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matchups. As for Irmo, they will be playing at home against Colleton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Colleton County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Irmo is ranked fourth).
