Volleyball Recap: Brooke Huegel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Providence Academy over Minnehaha Academy

Providence Academy managed to slip by Minnehaha Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lions lost 3-0 to the Red Hawks on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered against the Red Hawks since September 14, 2021.

Providence Academy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Minnehaha Academy work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-16, 25-15.

Providence Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Huegel, who had 14 digs. Huegel is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Smyth, who had 14 digs.

Providence Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Minnehaha Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Coming up, Providence Academy will take on Mounds Park Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Minnehaha Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against St. Croix Prep on the 25th.
