The program was La Lumiere and the vision of big time high school basketball has been realized.

Under the direction of third-year head coach Shane Heirman, the Lakers begin the 2016-17 campaign as our preseason Independent Top 10 No. 1-ranked team.

La Lumiere beat nationally-ranked St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.) and Montverde Academy (Fla.) to reach the Dick's Nationals final last April. A heartbreaking, overtime loss there to Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) should fuel a talented group this season.

Leading the way will be 2015-16 MaxPreps Junior All-American Brian Bowen, who posted 20.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last season. The 6-foot-7 guard is regarded as a Top 25 prospect by 247Sports with Michigan State, Arizona and Texas among the contenders for his services.

The other key piece in the backcourt back from last season is sophomore point man Tyger Campbell, who already has two varsity seasons under his belt. He played as an eighth-grader for perennial Tennessee power Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville).

In an interesting scheduling twist, La Lumiere will meet Lighthouse Christian (Antioch, Tenn.) on Jan. 28. That program is coached by Campbell's father, Tony.

The Lakers are out to a 3-0 start this season, winning those outings by an average of 35.6 points per game.
