Basketball Game Preview: Springfield Senators vs. Normal University Pioneers

The Springfield Senators will head out to square off against the Normal University Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springfield will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Springfield will head into Saturday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 32) and two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 win over Oak Lawn.

Meanwhile, Normal University was able to grind out a solid victory over Tolono Unity on Tuesday, taking the game 56-45.

Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Normal University, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Springfield might still be hurting after the 59-39 defeat they got from Normal University in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
