Basketball Game Preview: Martin County Gators vs. Kinston Vikings

The Martin County Gators will take on the Kinston Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Martin County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Kinston likes a good challenge.

Martin County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against Farmville Central by a score of 71-60.

Martin County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamarion Larry led the charge by going 9-for-12 en route to 22 points in addition to six assists and three steals. That's the most points Larry has posted since back in February of 2025. Jordan Matthewson was another key player, shooting 58% from the field to rack up 19 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Kinston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They skirted past the Chargers 60-58.

Martin County's record now sits at 25-4. As for Kinston, their record is now 20-3.
