Recap: Apprentice Academy Red Wolves vs. Valor Preparatory Academy Owls
This season hasn't been kind to the Apprentice Academy Red Wolves, who are still winless after their ninth match. They had to suffer through a rough 82-30 loss at the hands of Valor Preparatory Academy. Apprentice Academy has struggled against Valor Preparatory Academy recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Apprentice Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Radear Watson, who scored 12 points. That was a full 40% of Apprentice Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ethan Acoveno was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.
Bishop Witherspoon was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points for Valor Preparatory Academy. Witherspoon is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrell Caldwell, who scored 16 points.
Apprentice Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apprentice Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carolina International at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Carolina International has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 292 points over their last four games. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Queen's Grant at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
