Football Recap: Pickens Academy Takes a Loss

Pickens Academy had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it six. They were dealt a 62-0 loss at the hands of the University Charter Trail Blazers. The Pirates lost against the Trail Blazers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 34-6 score last time.

As for University Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 23 points or more this season.

University Charter found their leader in sophomore Kameron Watkins, who rushed for 187 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Watkins. Jeremiah Sledge was in the mix too, providing University Charter with one score.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pickens Academy will challenge Holt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for University Charter, they will take on Marengo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
