Basketball Recap: Edinburgh Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kinzie Purvis and Kenna Streeval

Edinburgh lost against Jac-Cen-Del back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Edinburgh Lancers lost 51-29 to the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. The Lancers were down 42-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Edinburgh had strong showings from Kenna Streeval, who posted 16 points and six rebounds, and Kinzie Purvis, who put up six points and nine rebounds. Streeval has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Even though they lost, Edinburgh smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Jac-Cen-Del's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanie Narwold led the charge by going 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Narwold a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Simon, who had nine points along with six boards and five steals.

Edinburgh has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.

Edinburgh didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-32 victory against Milan on the 14th. As for Jac-Cen-Del, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 41-26 win against New Washington on the 14th.
