Softball Recap: East Catholic Eagles vs. Glastonbury Guardians
East Catholic had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it four. They lost 22-14 to the Glastonbury Guardians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2016.
Bridget Nosal made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Katinka Nolan, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Glastonbury, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
On Glastonbury's side, they got a massive performance out of Brooke Schlenger, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Schlenger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylvia Lewis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Catholic will face off against Northwest Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glastonbury, they will challenge Enfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Guardians surely won't give up without a fight.
