Baseball Recap: Mount Dora Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Mount Dora Christian Academy and Orangewood Christian squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mount Dora Christian Academy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rams this season, with their most recent defeat being a 18-13 loss on Tuesday.

Alex Wise put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mount Dora Christian Academy is 8-4 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 10-11 otherwise. Wise was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Eli Feld and Braden Waring stepped up to the plate in a big way. Feld went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Waring went 1-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Waring is becoming a predictor of Mount Dora Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-2 (and 11-13 when he doesn't). Weston Barrett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Mount Dora Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 18-15. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Orangewood Christian, they pushed their record up to 21-10 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

As of now, neither Mount Dora Christian Academy nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
