Channel Islands had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They strolled past the Santa Paula Cardinals with  points to spare, taking the game  69-55. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  81-45  back in January.
 Channel Islands' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  JD Pettit led the charge by  going 11 for 13  en route to 22 points and seven  rebounds.  Rajai Moody was another key player,  going 7 of 17  on his way to 16  points and five  steals.
Channel Islands' victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Santa Paula, their loss  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 16-10.
 The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Channel Islands will be playing in front of their home fans against Vasquez  at 7:00  p.m.  on February 12th. Vasquez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.9  points per game  this season. As for Santa Paula, they will square off against California Academy of Math & Science at 7:00  p.m.  on February 12th. Santa Paula knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully California Academy of Math & Science likes a good challenge.
