Basketball Recap: Bishop Ireton Comes Up Short

Bishop Ireton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 74-61 to the Bishop O'Connell Knights. The Cardinals were probably out for revenge after losing 59-47 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bishop O'Connell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shane Lincoln led the charge by going 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Lincoln is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Norton, who went 8 of 15 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.

Bishop Ireton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Bishop O'Connell, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-5.

Bishop Ireton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Evergreen Christian at 7:45 p.m. As for Bishop O'Connell, they will venture away from home to face off against DeMatha at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeMatha will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Bishop O'Connell surely won't give up without a fight.
