Baseball Recap: Central Bucks East Takes a Loss

Central Bucks East fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Souderton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 14-13. Even if the Patriots couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jack Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Central Bucks East: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Mutchler, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Central Bucks East's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Souderton, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1-1.

While Central Bucks East had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
