Softball Preview: Wellsville Lions vs. North Lincoln Knights
The Wellsville Lions will square off against the North Lincoln Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Wellsville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
North Lincoln's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Wellsville hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand Cuba-Rushford a 9-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Lions have won four matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kennedy Perry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Perry was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynn Hallock, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Makenna Dunbar, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Lincoln). They blew past Southwestern 24-0 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
North Lincoln's record is now 13-4. As for Wellsville, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
