Softball Recap: Perry Central Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Perry Central dropped their record down to 10-9 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell 7-2 to the West Washington Senators. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Commodores of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for West Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 16-4 record this season. Winning may never get old, but they sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

For West Washington's part, Emery Haub spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. Haub has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Schmidt, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macy Lowery, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry Central will square off against Northeast Dubois at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Washington, they will face off against Henryville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
